Tecno is reportedly working on a smartphone with a retractable telescopic lens. The smartphone maker has announced a telescopic macro lens which is claimed to improve the quality of macro pictures as well as the whole experience of taking them.
As shown in the teaser video, the phone features a telephoto macro lens that extends from the body for closer photography. It will offer 5x optical zoom and will enable users to click closer shots without having to get too close to the subject. The camera will also come with a bigger aperture to enable one to click good photos.
Tecno says that the camera design will be compact and will not require big housing. However, it did not offer exact specifications of the phone. The company has also not provided any timeline as to when a Tecno phone with the new telescopic lens may arrive. But it is likely that the phone could be unveiled some time this year.
Meanwhile, the company unveiled its first 5G phone under its Pova smartphone series in 2021. Dubbed Tecno Pova 5G, the handset comes with a 6.59-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution of 1080×2460 pixels. The display has a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 octa-core processor, it comes integrated with Mali G68 GPU and packs 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The device has an internal storage capacity of 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Buyers will also get 3GB virtual RAM support with the phone. It runs on Android 11 operating system with the company’s proprietary HiOS on top.
Tecno Pova 5G boasts of a 12MP selfie camera with dual flash. On the rear, it consists of a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP camera and an AI lens. The device is backed by a 6000mAh battery and offers 18watt fast charging support.
