If you have kids, or even just know kids, I probably don’t need to tell you about Frozen. This 2013 animated feature has been a global phenomenon. It won two Academy Awards and inspired countless Halloween costumes — not to mention the billions it earned Disney in merchandise alone. The story of a young woman grappling with her secret abilities while her sister tries to save her from herself is a timeless tale of love, family, and celebrating what makes us all unique.

Based on the best-selling book by Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid tells the story of Greg, a regular kid who has to face the horrors of, er, middle school. Greg has to learn responsibility and that there are consequences to his actions as he adjusts to a much more fast-paced environment than he’s grown used to in grade school. This is one of the best kids movies on Disney Plus, giving young viewers a relatable narrative that doesn’t talk down to them and instead takes their problems seriously.

The magical world of A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh comes to life again in this original 2011 film, adapting three of Milne’s beloved stories. In this animated feature film, Pooh and his friends try to find Eeyore’s missing tail, investigate the possible abduction of Christopher Robin by a monster known as the Backson, and more.

When Mirabel, the only member of the Madrigal family without a special power, realizes her family is under threat, she has to dig into her family history to find a solution.

A classic for a reason, The Little Mermaid is well worth a watch if you have kids at home. Mermaid Ariel dreams of walking on land. She gets her chance when she makes a deal with the witch Ursula. Her new legs come at a cost though. She trades her voice. And soon, she realizes she’s traded more than she ever expected.

The newest title from Pixar, Turning Red is a touching story about a 13-year-old in Toronto who juggles fun with her friends and family responsibility. That becomes a lot harder when she suddenly finds herself turning into a giant red panda whenever her emotions spike, making her mother fiercely protective.

One of the funniest Disney animated films, and certainly one of the best kids movies on Disney Plus, The Emperor’s New Groove is a clever look at the corrupting influence of power. Emperor Kuzco must learn humility and work with an unlikely ally to regain his throne when it’s taken from him by his power-hungry advisor, who has turned Kuzco into a llama.
