The Galaxy Z Fold 4 could beat rivals to the punch with this storage option

TL;DR

  • Samsung will reportedly offer a 1TB Galaxy Z Fold 4 later this year.
  • This could be the first time we see a 1TB foldable phone.
  • The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is also expected to gain a storage bump.

Samsung is no stranger to offering phones with 1TB of internal storage, doing so before for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. We haven’t seen this much storage for Galaxy foldables though, but that might change later this year.

SamMobile has claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be available with up to 1TB of internal storage (specifically the SM-F936J, SM-F936N, and SM-F936W models). If confirmed, this would make Samsung’s device the first foldable to offer this much storage. Thankfully, the device is also said to be available in 256GB and 512GB flavors for those who don’t want to pay this premium.

We’re nevertheless glad to see this option apparently coming as Samsung’s most recent high-end phones including the Galaxy Z Fold series lack microSD expansion in the first place. So those who want to carry a ton of movies, their entire music library, and loads of games on their foldable should consider this variant. A 1TB option also makes sense for the Galaxy Z Fold series given that the large foldable screen is handy for video content and productivity in the first place.

There’s obviously no word on pricing just yet, but the 1TB Galaxy S22 Ultra had a $1,599 launch price compared to the 128GB base model’s $1,199 price. Don’t be surprised if we see a ~$400 price difference between the cheapest Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the 1TB model as well, potentially breaching the $2,000 barrier.

Interestingly enough, it seems like the Galaxy Z Flip 4 could also be due for a storage upgrade. SamMobile claimed that the upcoming clamshell foldable will be available in a 512GB flavor for the first time. This would double the 256GB option that was previously the top-end variant.
