TL;DR

  • Owners of Google Nest cameras and thermostats will be able to install and set up these devices and more on their own with the upcoming ADT Plus app.
  • The new app will also allow control of the company’s many ADT smart home devices through one app.
  • The app will launch sometime in February for consumers and later in the year for professional smart home installers.

If you want to install and set up your own smart home and security devices, there’s a new app coming soon that should make things easier. ADT, one of the leading companies in home security, announced the ADT Plus app as part of its CES 2023 reveals.

In addition to its own devices, the ADT Plus app will let users install and set up their own Google Nest smart home products, including Nest Cam wired and wireless security cameras, Nest Thermostats, and Nest Doorbells. The ADT Plus app will send a notification to your smartphone if your Nest Cam or Doorbell detects movement in designated areas and will also let you speak to whomever you see in the camera. You can also use the app to set up the Nest Thermostat with voice commands.

The new app will also be useful for setting up a lineup of ADT-branded smart home and security products that will officially launch later in 2023. In addition, the app will add support for smart home products with Matter integration later in the year. The ADT Plus app will launch in February 2023, but so far, there’s no word on which mobile OS platforms it will support. It will be made available to professional smart security installers later in 2023.
