The OnePlus Nord Watch is light on the pocket, but not on price

OnePlus got into the smartwatch space last year with the OnePlus Watch, but we thought the company was charging too much money for what was essentially a fitness tracker. Now, OnePlus is back with the Nord Watch.

Yes, the OnePlus Nord Watch is the first smartwatch from the company’s value-focused Nord brand, starting at Rs 4,999 (~$61) in India. So what do you actually get for the price?

The watch looks like it was derived from the Apple Watch at first glance, namely due to the familiar rectangular form factor and a side button that looks like a digital crown. Otherwise, the watch case is made out of metal while the included straps seem to be silicon, with the entire package getting an IP68 rating.

Turn on the watch and you’ll be greeted by a 1.78-inch OLED screen (368×448, 500 nits brightness), complete with over 100 watch faces to choose from. Don’t expect Wear OS here though, as this seems to run the same basic RTOS platform as the OnePlus Watch.

Still, the OnePlus Nord Watch has more than its fair share of health and fitness features. These include 105 sports modes, a heart rate monitor, SpO2 tracking, sleep tracking, stress level monitoring, and period tracking.

The watch has a few cross-device features too, such as music controls for your phone, notification support, and remote camera shutter functionality. Other notable specs include a 230mAh battery, up to 10 days of usage, and Bluetooth 5.2 support.

The OnePlus Nord Watch goes on sale from October 3 in India. There’s no word on a wider release, though.
