The Pixel 7 series helped Google achieve its ‘highest selling week ever’

TL;DR

  • Google says it recently had its “highest selling week ever” for the Pixel line.
  • This was due to the Pixel 7 series, which went on sale earlier this month.

Now, the company has claimed during its Q3 2022 earnings call (h/t: Motley Fool) that it reached new heights with the Pixel 7 series.

“We recently had our highest selling week ever for Pixel, and I’m really proud of the positive reviews so far,” Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said during the call, referring to the Pixel 7 series which went on sale from October 13.

Possible reasons for increased sales

We thought the Pixel 7 devices both delivered fantastic value for money, even if they were mostly iterative upgrades over the Pixel 6 series. So we can see why Google is enjoying brisk sales compared to previous models.

It’s also worth noting that Google is offering Pixels in more countries than ever before, no doubt helping to boost sales. These new markets are Denmark, India, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. And there’s still scope for expansion in the future in the likes of Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Alphabet CFO Ruth Porat also said the company delivered “solid” growth for hardware revenue, primarily due to sales of the mid-range Pixel 6a. Google’s latest A-series phone was released back in July, coming in at $450.

It’s worth noting, however, that Google still accounts for a tiny slice of the global smartphone market. So there’s a long way to go if the company wants to challenge the top five brands.
