TL;DR
- The Redmi K50 series will debut on February 16.
- A new teaser has also shed light on the Gaming Edition’s design.
- We expect supporting phones to also debut on the day.
The brand’s general manager Lu Weibing took to Weibo to confirm the date. Weibing also dropped a few more teasers, calling the Gaming Edition a “cold-blooded flagship.” This is machine-translated, but it does keep with the theme of previous teasers, which talked up the series’ heat dissipation measures. Weibing didn’t reveal any specs or features but did include a render of the device’s top half.
The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will seemingly sport three rear snappers and lightning bolt (or Harry Potter’s scar-shaped) flash. It seems the phone will also sport shoulder triggers keeping true to its gaming heritage. Overall, the new phone shares many design traits with the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition.
What else can we expect? Well, based on previous leaks and teasers, we know the K50 series will feature a 4,700mAh battery with 120W charging. We’re also expecting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to feature, but we’ll have to wait for confirmation for all devices in the series.
Although Weibing didn’t mention the other Redmi K50 models, we do expect these to debut alongside the Gaming Edition at the February 16 launch.
