The Steam Awards 2022 concluded with Elden Ring winning the game of the year award on the platform. The game was launched in February and remained at the top of the list for the whole year. It got a Metascore of 96 and a rating of 9/10 on the Steam store. Elden ring was also named the Game of The Year at the The Game Awards 2022. Here is a list of winners in different categories announced at the annual awards function.
Game of the Year: Elden Ring
The game delivers the best experience across all creative and technical fields. The game was recognised for its immersive gameplay, gripping story, well-crafted characters, immaculate design, and addictive multiplayer. Elden Ring is a role-playing game (RPG) in which players take the journey to repair the titular Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.
VR Game of the Year: Hitman 3
The VR Game of the Year went to Hitman 3. The game “improves on reality, taking advantage of the medium of VR and pushing the boundaries of the virtual realm.” It is a stealth game developed and published by IO Interactive and it was launched in 2021. A sequel to the 2018 video game Hitman 2, the game is the eighth main instalment in the Hitman series.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a storydriven, open world RPG of the dark future. This game is still getting new content after all these years.
Better With Friends: Raft
Raft is an open world survival video game and it was released as an early access title on 23 May 2018 on Steam.

Best Soundtrack: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
The award is presented to a game that offers outstanding musical score. The game is set in the dystopian cyberpunk metropolis of Midgar and players control the mercenary Cloud Strife. It is a 2020 action RPG developed and published by Square Enix.
Outstanding Story-Rich Game: God of War Ragnarok
God of War Ragnarok is loosely based on Norse mythology and features protagonist Kratos along with his son Atreus. Both the characters face enemies and wait for Ragnarök that was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Aesir god Baldur.
There were awards for Best Game On The Go that went to Death Stranding Director’s Cut and “Sit Back And Relax” that went to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
