These WhatsApp users may get a new disappearing messages feature
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will allow you to keep certain disappearing messages in the chat for a longer duration. As per a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook owned platform has rolled out a new beta update for Android users. The update has references to the new disappearing message feature. According to the report, if you have enabled disappearing messages, the feature will allow you to keep certain messages in the chat even after the time limit for the message has expired.
Currently, you have to temporarily disable the disappearing messages feature and forward the message to the same chat in order to keep a disappearing message in the chats. The process can be quite tedious and the company seems to be aiming to simplify this with the new feature.
As per the screenshot shared in the report, the feature will help you to keep a disappearing message in the chat. Users will be able to see a pop-up that reads “The message will no longer disappear from this chat. Anyone can unsave it.” You can also unkeep the message if you no longer need it. When you select the option, you will see an option that reads “This message would have disappeared. Unkeeping it will delete it for everyone.”
As the feature is still in early stage of development, it is unknown when the company will roll it out to users. Apart from this, WhatsApp is also planning to introduce a new limitation when forwarding messages. After installing a previous update rolled out this week, certain beta testers are no longer able to forward a WhatsApp message to more than one group chat at a time. With the new limitation, to share a message in multiple WhatsApp groups, you have to select the message and forward it multiple times
