These WhatsApp users may soon see new indicator in chats – Times of India

WhatsApp users on PC may soon see a new footer in chats. As per a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook owned platform is planning a new footer indicating that the messages you send or receive are end-to-end encrypted. References for the upcoming footer have been found in the latest update for the desktop client. The update brings the version up to 2.2206.1. Similar footer that mentions end-to-end encryption offered by the company is already available in iOS and Android devices.
As per the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, the new footer will be visible at the end of your chats list, showing that your messages are end-to-end encrypted. As the indicator is currently under development, it is not yet available to users. It is expected that the new indicator will be visible to the users in the coming updates. For those who don’t know, end-to-end encryption or E2EE is a privacy feature that ensures that only you and the person you’re communicating with can read or listen to what is sent, and nobody in between, not even the company. In simple terms, your data is secured with a lock, and only the recipient and you have the special key needed to unlock and read them.
WhatsApp is also reportedly adding a dark theme to the platform with the latest beta update for UWP app. According to the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, If you are using a dark theme on Windows, the app will automatically set the theme to dark. If a user wishes to change the theme, they can do so by going to WhatsApp Settings > General. It is worth noting that the changes will only apply after the app is restarted. Apart from this, the app tint colour is now green. Users can also notice minor space between chat bubbles after the update.
