This 2007 Apple iPhone was sold for Rs 28 lakh – Times of India

The then Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the first-ever iPhone at the Macworld convention in San Francisco for the first time in January 2007. This device was like an “upgraded iPod” that featured — a touchscreen display, a 2MP camera and a web browser, among other features.
According to a report by ZDNet, the same unopened, original first-generation 2007 iPhone which was packed inside a sealed box has now been sold for $35,000 (roughly around Rs 28 lakh) in an auction in the US.

The smartphone was released in the US in June 2007 and the base model with 4GB RAM was priced at $499 while the 8GB variant came with a price tag of $599.
Key details about the fully-packed original iPhone
As per the report, the 8GB variant of the original iPhone (which was used by Steve Jobs to unveil the product line-up) was sold by RR Auction as part of its curated “Apple, Jobs, and Computer Hardware” lineup.
The auction house stated that the iPhone box featured a “life-size image of the iPhone with 12 icons on the screen.” The report mentions that the number of icons indicates that the device was from the earliest production as the iTunes icon (the 13th icon) was added later in 2007.

Other items that were available at the auction
The report also adds that the auction which closed on August 18, featured more than 70 items that were up for bidding. One of the items that were also a part of the auction was an Apple-1 circuit board, which was hand-soldered by the company’s co-founder Steve Wozniak, and was eventually sold for $677,196.
Apart from this, the auction also offered an unopened first-generation original Apple iPod (5GB) which was sold for $25,000, the report claimed. The Cupertino-based tech giant is now set to unveil the iPhone 14 series along with other products on September 7.
