This Indian company is taking on Google Street View with its own app – Times of India
After six years, Google finally reannounced Street View in India. On the same day, MapMyIndia, an Indian digital mapping company, announced Mappls RealView, an all-India 360-degree panoramic street view.
The 360-degree street view will be available through MapMyIndia’s Mappls on Android, iOS and the web. The company says that with Mappls RealView, users can explore and interact with full 360-degree panoramas of streets, tourist spots, and travel destinations across India.
“We are excited to give to users in India, a fully indigenous alternative to foreign map apps, that is more advanced in its capabilities and is more valuable for users, while also being fully Indian. We hope users in India will try out Mappls and give us feedback so we can keep improving. This is the right way to achieve the clarion call for Aatmanirbhar Bharat given by our Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Rohan Verma, CEO, MapMyIndia.
Cities Mappls Realview will be available in
Mappls Realview covers thousands of kilometres spread across different cities in India. The RealView offers a 360-degree street view in multiple urban cities, including Greater Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Goa, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Patna, Nashik, Aurangabad, Ajmer. It also covers towns and also shows off the highways spanning more than tens of thousands of kilometres.
The company says that Mappls Realview has 40 crore+ geo-tagged 360-degree panoramas and videos giving exact details about the location. Further, it also offers tens of thousands of 3D models. Per the company, a part of this repository is already live for users on the Mappls web portal and mobile app.
The company also announced a 3D Metaverse maps service alongside the street view.
