This maybe the most ‘popular’ MacBook among Apple customers

Apple may have diversified across different products and categories but it started off as a ‘computer’ company. And the Mac devices continue to be a bedrock for the Cupertino-based tech giant with a wide portfolio. There are the laptops — MacBook Air and MacBook Pro — and then there are the iMacs, Mac mini and Mac Studio. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) has now revealed in a report that laptops dominate the sales when it comes to Mac devices. “Laptops account for 74% of units over the past year and have remained at around that level for the past several years,” said CIRP in the report

The ‘surprising’ winner among Mac

When it comes to Apple’s laptop sales, CIRP pegs it to be a rather even contest. And perhaps a tad surprising that the “more powerful and expensive” MacBook Pro models outsell the “lighter, less costly” MacBook Air models. MacBook Pro accounts for around 54% of total laptop sales for Apple whereas the MacBook Air gets the other 46%.
Apple does offer a range of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models for buyers. There’s the M1 MacBook Air and the new 13-inch M2 MacBook Air. When it comes to MacBook Pro, there is the new M2 model as well as the really powerful M1 Max and M1 Ultra-powered models as well.
The MacBook Air (M2) model starts at Rs 1,19,900 whereas the M1 MacBook Air starts at Rs 99,000. The MacBook Pro, on the other hand, starts at Rs 1,52,900 for the M2 model whereas the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models start at Rs 1,94,900.
Desktop sales were 26% of the total sales for Apple. When it comes to desktops, it is the iMac and Mac Pro that dominate with 50% and 43% sales respectively. The Mac mini and Mac Studio have just 4% of total desktop sales for Apple.
