This Realme device will not get Android 12 update, confirms company

NEW DELHI: Realme launched its first Android tablet Realme Pad last year in September. The tablet runs Android 11 operating system topped with the company’s own layer of Reame UI. Now, the company has confirmed that it will not roll out the Android 12 update for the Realme Pad. The company also mentioned that the Android tablet will receive security updates, but will not get a software update.

In this week’s Community FAQ, the Chinese smartphone maker confirmed that the Realme Pad will not receive Android 12 update. However, the tablet will receive the important security updates throughout its software cycle. On the other hand, Realme rivals like HMD Global and Samsung are giving Android 12 updates to their tablets.

HMD Global launched the Nokia T20 Android tablet in India in November last year. At the time of the launch the company confirmed that the device will get 2 years of software update and 3 years of security updates. On the other hand, Samsung also confirmed Android 12 update for its Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) and Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and for the Galaxy Tab S series.

Realme Pad: Price and specifications
Realme Pad comes in two variants — 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB priced at Rs 15,999 and Rs 19,686 respectively.

The Realme Pad features a 10.4-inch WUXGA+ (2000×1200 pixels) resolution with 82.5% screen-to-body ratio. It also comes with several features for eye comfort that includes eye comfort, dark mode, night mode and sunlight mode. In terms of audio, it comes with a four-speaker setup and supports adaptive surround sound with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio support.

For performance, the Realme Pad is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 chipset which is an 12nm octa-core processor that comes with Mali-G52 GPU. The processor also comes with HyperEngine technology for optimal gaming performance.

Realme’s latest tablet comes with an 8MP ultra wide-angle front shooter with 105 degree field of view. There’s a dual noise-canceling microphone as well for video calling, taking online classes or taking selfies.
