There’s no shortage of competitors snapping at the heels of Dyson – a company renown for its cordless vacuum cleaners. Dyson isn’t resting on its laurels and is introducing some truly innovate new technologies (its latest vacuum packs a laser-guided motor head and microbe-sensing smarts), but that doesn’t mean competitors aren’t innovating fast too.
Roborock is one such company. While the brand, which is part of Xiaomi’s ecosystem of smart home gadgets, has a number of smart vacuums already under its belt, the Roborock H7 is only its second-ever cordless stick design.
As well as packing some impressive specs as a vacuum, the H7 has an unexpected trick up its sleeve. This cordless gadget is not only designed to vacuum every corner of your home, but it also supports a mop attachment. There’s a dedicated mopping mode, which lets you clean any (newly dust-free) hardwood or tiled floors in your home too.
Needless to say, that’s not particularly common on cordless vacuum cleaners.
The mop attachment won’t be shipped in the box, so you’ll need to spend a little extra to get one. However, if you’re a little short on space at home, it could be a great way to combine two household products into one. Like most cordless stick vacuums, the Roborock H7 has a wall-mounted charging dock, dubbed Magbase Easy Store.
As well as the vacuum cleaner itself, this can be used to hold a range of accessories and add-ons, so everything is out of the way and easy to find when the Roborock H7 is recharging.
Not that you’ll need to recharge Roborock’s latest vacuum all that often. According to the Chinese firm, you’ll be able to get 90-minutes of non-stop cleaning down in “eco mode” before the battery indicator starts blinking. If you need a little more suction, that battery life is cut in half, with “normal mode” hitting around 45-minutes on a single charge. Recharging from flat takes 2.5 hours.
When it comes to filtration, Roborock says you’ll capture up to 99.99 percent of particulates – as small as 0.3 microns. This is designed to improve the overall air quality in your home, which is a nice little bonus.
Roborok also cleverly allows allergy sufferers to connect disposable dust bags, which not only expand the storage capacity of the dust bin for a marathon vacuuming session but also reduce the amount of air pollution from allergens when disposing of the grim from your floors. Most won’t need to use this feature, however, as the Roborock H7 has a 500ml capacity.
For comparison, the £599 Dyson V11 Absolute has only a slightly larger 0.7 litre dust bin, while the Lupe Pure Cordless, designed by ex-Dyson engineers, finds room for one-litre of space in the dust bin.
The Roborock H7 will launch for customers in the United States next month with a price tag of $500 (£350). There’s no word on a release date for the UK, Europe or Australia yet. But fingers crossed that we won’t be waiting long for this cordless stick to hit shelves elsewhere.
