This upcoming WhatsApp feature to make joining group calls easier – Times of India

Meta-owned instant messaging and calling app, WhatsApp keeps testing new features on its app. Recently, the app received a new calling interface for both Android and iOS versions of the app.
Now, it seems that WhatsApp is planning to make joining group calls easier on the platform.
WABetaInfo has reported that the company is planning to add a new feature called ‘Call link’. The feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.6.5 update.
According to the report, with the new Call link feature, users will be able to join calls using links. According to the report, users will be able to create a link right from the call screen within their contacts and share it with anyone even if their contact isn’t saved on their phone.
It is also important to note that unlike other call links that we usually create with Messenger Rooms, Teams, etc, users will have to be on WhatsApp to be able to join the call. According to WABetaInfo, this is because WhatsApp calls are end-to-end encrypted.
Right now, the feature is under development and users can’t create the link and share with others. However, the feature is expected to roll out with coming WhatsApp updates.
Meanwhile, according to the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo users will get a ‘New call link’ option under the call section where users usually create a group call with their contacts.
Also, there’s no official timeline available when the feature will arrive in the stable version of WhatsApp.
