Three ways to customise the iOS 16 notifications – Times of India

The iOS 16 update brings an all-new lock screen customisation option to iPhones. The updated lock screen in addition to the plethora of personalisation options like clock design, font, colour, widgets and more also adds the new placement for notifications. As a part of the new redesign, the notifications now appear at the bottom of the lock screen instead of at the top in the previous versions of the operating system.
The updated design reduces clutter on the lock screen and gives users better visibility of the wallpaper. Taking the lock screen personalisation a step further, Apple has also included a slew of customisation options to the notifications that let users choose the appearance of the notification on the lock screen.
In the iOS 16 Settings, there are three options available to customise the lock screen notifications — Count, Stack and List. That’s pretty much it. Apple does not allow users to change the position of the notifications and also, there’s no way to bring back the classic notifications.
Here are three ways that you can customise your lock screen:
Count: This option replaces the notification cards on the lock screen with a total count of pending notifications you have. You can swipe up to view all the notifications. The Count can also be turned on temporarily by dragging down the lock screen notifications
Stack: This is the new notification layout for iOS16. This takes all the notifications from individual apps and stacks them together. So, all the WhatsApp notifications will be stacked in one, similarly, Gmail notifications will be placed together and so on.
List: The classic card layout from iOS 15. This sort of brings back the design of the old notification, except for the placement. You can swipe up from the bottom to expand the notification list on the lock screen.
