Tinder rolls out update to add new features: Incognito Mode, Block Profile and more

Match Group-owned dating app Tinder has rolled out an update to add some new features to the platform. These new features include chatting in Incognito Mode, Block Profile, Long Press Reporting and more. According to a report by IANS, the latest Incognito Mode seems to be an improvement from completely hiding a profile. With this feature enabled, users will still be allowed to use the “Right Swipe” and “Left Swipe options” in the app. However, members will be able to see other users in their recommendations only if they have “Liked” them. Tinder has also rolled out updates for the ‘Does This Bother You?’ and ‘Are You Sure?’ features. This upgrade will offer users (especially in the 18-25 age group) more control over how they interact with others.
Tinder’s SVP of Product Integrity, Rory Kozoll has said: “Every touchpoint in Tinder has been built with safety in mind, and we’ve heard from members that they aren’t always aware of what safety features currently exist, how to use them, or how to approach staying safe when they take a conversation off the app.”

Kozoll added, “To help close this gap, we continually work with expert partners to promote messages about safety and dating, both on and off the app.”
Tinder new features: More details
The latest Incognito Mode feature will only be available to premium users. This means only Tinder+, Gold and Premium members will be allowed to access the feature.
Meanwhile, the ‘Block Profile’ feature will initially arrive for Android users. The company has mentioned that this feature will be later rolled out for iPhone users iOS during the first quarter of 2023.
Tinder members can use the ‘Block Profile’ feature to choose who they want to see on the dating app. Moreover, members can also block suggested profiles before matching with them. The company claims that once blocked these profiles won’t be showing up for the members who have blocked them.
The company says: “It’s an easy way to avoid seeing a boss or an ex. This new feature comes in addition to Block Contacts and blocking following making a report.”
Tinder users can now tap and hold offensive messages to report them using the Long press reporting feature. In such cases, the reporting flow will be launched directly in the chat experience.
Tinder ‘Green Flags’ campaign and ‘Healthy Dating Guide‘: What are they
The company has partnered with a non-profit named No More to promote healthy and safe dating. Under this partnership, Tinder will launch the ‘Green Flags’ campaign and ‘Healthy Dating Guide’.
No More CEO, Pamela Zaballa explained: “Research shows that a majority of 18-25 year-olds are concerned about their emotional and physical safety when dating. This is why we want to provide these younger daters with useful and insightful content about how to communicate with others they’ve matched with online.”
