On Thursday, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari announced that an expert committee has been tasked with looking into recent incidents involving electric two wheelers. He said based on the committee’s report, the ministry will “issue necessary orders on the defaulting companies”, apart from saying the ministry will soon also “issue quality-centric guidelines for Electric Vehicles.”

He added, “If any company is found negligent in their processes, a heavy penalty will be imposed and a recall of all defective vehicles will also be ordered… Meanwhile companies may take advance action to Recall all defective batches of vehicles immediately.”
