Twitter Blue rolled out with new prices, features and more – Times of India

After weeks of delays and glitches, Twitter has finally rolled out its subscription service — Twitter Blue — to users. In the last couple of weeks, Elon Musk had said that the service will fix all the glitches — and it did have quite a few — with Twitter Blue. Now it seems like the issues have been fixed and the service is finally live. Here is all you need to know about it:
What is Twitter Blue?
“Twitter Blue is an opt-in, paid monthly subscription that adds a blue checkmark to your account and offers early access to select new features, like Edit Tweet,” is how Twitter describes it.
What are the key features of Twitter Blue?
There are a host of features that are a part of Twitter Blue. Here are a few of them:
Bookmark folders: Bookmark Folders let Twitter Blue subscribers group and organise Bookmarked tweets into folders for faster discovery later. Twitter Blue allows you an unlimited number of bookmarks and Bookmark folders which are always private.
Custom app icons: With Custom App icons, users can change how their Twitter app icon displays on their phone. There are several colourful options to choose from.
Themes: Twitter Blue Themes let users choose from colourful options for their app theme.
Custom navigation: This feature lets users choose what appears in their navigation bar. It allows to get quick access to the content and Twitter destinations you care about most. Users can select at least 2 and up to 6 items to keep in the bottom navigation bar or restore to default if it doesn’t suit them
Top articles: Top articles is a shortcut to the most-shared articles in a user’s network. This feature automatically lists the most-shared articles from people one follows — and people they follow, too — to easily find the type of content one wants to read.
Reader mode: Reader mode gives users the option to read threads with “less noise”
Undo Tweet: Undo Tweet gives users the option to retract a Tweet after you send it, but before it’s visible to others on Twitter. Do keep in mind that it is not an edit button, but a chance to preview and revise your tweet before it’s posted for the world to see. Once the Undo period is over, the tweet is viewable to followers and you can either leave it or delete it, like you normally would on Twitter.
How much does Twitter Blue cost?
Twitter has clarified that Twitter Blue subscribers who joined for $7.99 on iOS will be notified by Apple that they’re subscription will be automatically renewed for $11/month unless they choose to cancel their subscription.
Those, who had initially subscribed on iOS for $2.99 or $4.99/month will need to upgrade their subscription for $8/month on web or $11/month on iOS, or lose their subscription.
Those Twitter Blue subscribers who had signed up earlier can manage their subscription on the platform they subscribed on, in which case they will get the service through the end of their current billing period, or their subscriptions will be cancelled with notice.
Is Twitter Blue available in India?
No, not as of now. The new Twitter Blue is currently available for purchase in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, “with plans to expand”.
Does having a paid subscription to Twitter means an ad-free experience?
No, users will see ads. Unlike other premium services — like YouTube Premium — Twitter Blue users will see ads. However, Twitter does say that it is “working on a feature that will reduce the number of ads you see.”
