Twitter down reports are on the rise with users of the social networking site getting a something went wrong error message.

Independent outage monitor Down Detector has recorded a huge spike in Twitter down reports which first emerged after 4pm UK time today.

At the time of writing, Down Detector UK has recorded a peak of over 1,300 Twitter down reports with downdetector.com registering over 4,000 Twitter down reports.

Down Detector is a website which tracks social media mentions around popular services to detect the money one of these apps is taken offline.

Despite the widespread reports of issues with Twitter, the official Twitter API Status website says all systems are currently operational.

According to stats on the Down Detector website, the vast majority of reported Twitter issues are to do with accessing the site itself.

Despite the widespread reported issues with Twitter, there are some users who are managing to access the social networking site and still tweet about it.

One posted: “Twitter down.”

Another wrote: “Twitter down? Unable to load comments”.

One added: “Can’t see any accounts including mine but can tweet. Well, that’s strange.#Twitterdown”.

And another tweeted: “If we can post, but not reply, or see anyone else’s replies – I don’t know if that’s Twitter down or Twitter improved.”
