Twitter downvote feature may come to web as well – Times of India

Twitter is reportedly working to expand the downvote feature to more users. According to the known tech blogger, Jane Manchun Wong, the company is working on a downvote button for the web after testing it for iOS. The blogger even shared a screenshot showing the new button on the web.
The company began the pilot of the feature in July this year. It was only available to limited users on the iOS platform only. The feature allows you to upvote or downvote tweet replies. “Some of you on iOS may see different options to up or down vote on replies. We’re testing this to understand the types of replies you find relevant in a convo, so we can work on ways to show more of them. Your downvotes aren’t public, while your upvotes will be shown as likes.” said Twitter after rolling out the pilot.
The company also further mentioned that the downvote button isn’t a dislike button and the number of votes won’t change the order of replies. As of now, there is no official word from the company about the public availability of the feature and it remains limited to iOS and web version of Twitter.
Apart from this, the company also recently expanded the Spaces feature. Launched last year, Spaces allows users to have real-time audio conversations. Previously, the feature was only limited to users with 600 or more followers but now it is available to everyone. “The time has arrived — we’re now rolling out the ability for everyone on iOS and Android to host a Space.” the company wrote last week.
Earlier this month, the company also pulled the plug on the feature that warned users if the discussion was likely to heat up or get intense. The move was announced as a part of the company’s ‘conversational health’ initiative and was released for iOS and Android platforms for testing.
