Twitter enables Paytm option for Tips in India, here’s what it means

Twitter has announced that it has partnered with Paytm for ‘Tips’ feature in India. This means that Twitter influencers in India will now be able to accept Twitter Tips directly through Paytm. The move is aimed to push the ‘Tips’ feature in the country.
For those who are unaware, Twitter rolled out the Tips feature for its users last year. As of now, the company has not revealed any plans about the availability of the feature for web users. Users who are above 18 years of age, are eligible to use it on iOS and Android devices.
This feature lets you add links to select third-party payment services to your Twitter profile. When you turn on Tips on your profile, people can support you by tapping on your Tips icon to send you money via the third-party payment services and platforms you have added.
Through Paytm’s interface, people will be able to support individuals and organisations across India via multiple modes of payment, including UPI, credit/debit cards, net banking, wallets and more.
How you can enable Tips feature on your Twitter profile

  1. Open Twitter app on iOS or Android device.
  2. Go to your profile.
  3. Tap on the Edit Profile button.
  4. Then tap Tips, which is off by default.
  5. You will be required to consent to the company’s general tipping policy.
  6. Toggle Allow tips to on.
  7. Choose the third-party services you’d like to use.
  8. Add in your third-party service username.

Twitter also recently announced that it is expanding the downvote test feature to more users. The move was announced by the company in a Tweet. “We learned a lot about the types of replies you don’t find relevant and we’re expanding this test –– more of you on the web and soon iOS and Android will have the option to use reply downvoting,” the Tweet read. The company began the pilot of the feature in July last year.
