Twitter executive fired for not responding to Elon Musk’s email gets her job back

First, she blocked Twitter from firing her and now she got her job back. This is the peculiar story of Sinead McSweeney who was abruptly fired from the social media platform recently. The Irish arm of the Elon Musk-owned company said that it has restored the executive to her position with the firm.
Before being restricted from accessing company systems, McSweeney worked as Twitter’s global vice president for public policy. Here’s a timeline of how things led to her reinstatement.
Successful bid for an injunction
On Friday (November 25), McSweeney secured a temporary High Court injunction preventing Twitter from terminating her employment. The Ireland-based executive has told the court that she had been working for more than 75 hours a week since Musk took over the company.
McSweeney said she is a widow and the mother of a teenage son.
She also told the court that she didn’t resign but was restricted from accessing company systems and was treated as if she was not an employee of the company. The executive claimed that she received an exit offer in November.

‘Didn’t respond to Musk’s midnight email’
McSweeney noted that she didn’t respond to Musk’s email to Twitter employees in which he told staff to either agree to work for longer hours by clicking ‘yes’ to a form in the email.
“Anyone who had not done so” [clicked yes] by November 17 “will receive three months of severance. Whatever decision you make, thank you for your efforts to make Twitter successful,” the email said. McSweeney also said her job has become tougher since Musk took over the company.
It is to be noted that the new owner of the microblogging platform cut almost half of the company’s workforce a week after his takeover. Post his November 16 email, several employees, including executives quit. Twitter later rehired some staff.
McSweeney reinstated to her position
On Wednesday (November 30), counsel appearing for Twitter said the company “was offering undertakings to restore McSweeney’s access to all aspects of the company’s IT system and Twitter’s premises at George’s Quay in Dublin 2.”
The court was also told that it was the company’s intention to “turn the noise down” by allowing the firm’s human resources section to enter into negotiations with McSweeney.
