Twitter just gave us the first look an edited tweet
Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority
TL;DR
- Twitter just posted its first edited tweet.
- It shows that such tweets will have a “Last Edited” stamp at the bottom.
- People will also be able to view the edited history of tweets.
Twitter has made users wait for over a decade to be able to edit their tweets. It looks like the highly requested edit button is finally nearing launch as the platform has put out its first edited tweet.
hello
this is a test to make sure the edit button works, we’ll let you know how it goes
While Twitter has still not announced a concrete release date for the edit button, the latest edited tweet gives us some idea of how it would work.
As shown in the test tweet above, an edited tweet will display the “Last Edited” time and date at the bottom of the post. Users can click this and see the entire edit history of the tweet with all its previous versions.
It’s still unclear how many edits the new feature will allow and to what extent it will track the version changes. We also don’t know if users will be able to hide or delete the edit history of their tweets.
Anyhow, once the edit button goes live, it’ll first become available to Twitter Blue users. The latter is a monthly subscription service that gives the most engaged people on Twitter exclusive access to premium features. Since the service is only available in a handful of countries right now, the edit tweet button won’t be accessible to all those who want it at launch.
