Micro-blogging platform Twitter is reportedly working on a dedicated tab for podcasts. Popular tipster Jane Manchun Wong has shared a screenshot of the upcoming feature in a tweet. The image shows a microphone icon inside the bottom menu bar in the Twitter app. This microphone button will likely take you to a page titled “Podcasts”.
The screenshot, however, does not reveal how podcasts might be displayed on the platform. It is also unclear whether podcasts will incorporate Twitter Spaces. At present, Spaces are placed at the top of the Twitter feeds. Organizing them in a separate tab will make the UI cleaner.
Twitter Spaces was introduced in 2020. The audio-only chat space was launched to rival the Clubhouse app. Recently, Twitter allowed all the users to create chatrooms. It also introduced the ability for mobile users to record conversations. The option for hosts to record is now available for everyone on Android and iOS! When starting a Space, tap the “Record Space” switch to have it available for public playback for 30 days once the Space has ended.”
Users will see an icon on the top of the Space if it is being recorded. With the ability to record Spaces and share them across the platform, Hosts will be able to extend the value of their work past the moment during which a Space is live and listeners have the benefit of playing back the Space and sharing it across their timelines.
