Elon Musk recently confirmed that the verification process on Twitter “is being revamped right now”. With the verification badge starting to get limited to Twitter Blue members, those already verified will get 90 days to subscribe to Twitter Blue to keep the verification badge on their profile. In case they choose not to pay for Twitter Blue, they’ll start to lose their verification badge.
It has also been reported that Twitter would be planning to increase the Twitter Blue fee to $19.99 from the current $4.99. Aside from the verification badge, Twitter Blue does offer a few features like editing and undoing tweets that are still only limited to subscribers.
Currently, anyone can apply for Twitter Verification. However, given the statement made by Musk, this may not be the case in the near future and a lot of changes could be brought to the verification process as well.
Twitter could start seeing more layoffs
Along with all this, it seems like Twitter will be announcing a lot of layoffs soon. As the reports suggest that the employees working on this project have been given a serious deadline. The employees working on the project were told that would need to meet a deadline of November 7th to launch the feature or else they will be fired by Elon Musk himself.
Given the deadline, this feature could start rolling out this month itself. If it doesn’t, then it is safe that employees working on this feature would probably be fired
