Twitter’s global policy executives resign amid more job cuts – Times of India

Elon Musk started to offload staff as soon as he acquired Twitter in a $44 billion deal in late October. Since then, the social media company has seen thousands of employees leaving the company, including those who resigned due to changes in working conditions. As per the latest development, Musk has cut half of Twitter’s remaining public policy team reportedly affecting about 15 executives. The company now has less than 2,000 employees.
Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council dissolved
Theodora (Theo) Skeadas, who worked in the Public Policy team, and announced that she was leaving the company via a string of tweets. “And now it is my turn to say goodbye. Yesterday was my last day at Twitter, as half of the remaining Public Policy team was cut from the company,” she said in one of the tweets.

Twitter’s public policy team was responsible for interacting with lawmakers and civil society on issues such as online privacy and safety.
“I am especially proud of my work in: Managing our Trust and Safety Council, until it was dissolved last week,” Skeadas added. She worked on developing policies around online safety and harassment, human and digital rights, child sexual exploitation, suicide prevention and mental health, and dehumanisation prevention.

Meanwhile, Reuters also reports Twitter’s public policy chief Sinead McSweeney, has also left the company. Citing two sources, the news agency said that Nick Pickles, senior director for global public policy strategy, has taken over McSweeney’s role.
McSweeney made headlines when she blocked Twitter from firing her and got her job back after the Irish arm of the Elon Musk-owned company said that it restored the executive to her position with the firm.

More job cuts at Twitter
Media continue to report that Musk is laying off more employees. Last week, a few engineers in Twitter’s infrastructure org were fired. Musk recently said in a Twitter Space session that the company now has just over 2,000 employees (from over 7,500 when he took over). Musk also said that the company would lose about $3 billion next year but should now be “roughly cash flow break-even” after his cuts.
