Twitter’s new feature for you is For You: All the details – Times of India

Twitter can be quite a mess — no not the way Elon Musk made wholesale changes — when it comes to seeing certain tweets. Quite often Twitter users end up seeing tweets which they aren’t really interested in. Starting today — at least on iPhones — Twitter says that it wants people to see the tweets they want to see.
According to a tweet by Twitter support, “starting today on iOS, swipe between tabs to see Tweets recommended “For you” or Tweets from the accounts you’re “Following.”
Twitter explained that it is replacing the Home and Latest tabs with For You and Following. These will be pinned “to the top of your timeline so you can easily switch between them.” Users can further swipe to switch timelines instead of tapping the star icon, said the Twitter Support account in the tweet.
The TikTok effect
Back in December 2022, Elon Musk tweeted that Twitter will make it easier for users to switch between topics they follow and the trending ones. “Main timeline should allow for an easy sideways swipe between top, latest, trending and topics that you follow. Twitter search nav already sorta does this after you search,” Musk tweeted.

The feature is actually quite similar to what TikTok has. In fact, TikTok has the same For You feature, which shows content on basis of what people have seen, liked and more. In other words, what the TikTok algorithm fetches for users. For You on Twitter will work similarly. Twitter also pivoted into videos which was a rather inspired move from TikTok only.
As of now, the For You feature has been rolled out only on iOS and it’s not clear when it will arrive on Android and web versions of Twitter. iOS users should see the feature on their devices soon.
