Uber reportedly begins electric car service in India
As reported by TechCrunch, Uber is offering electric cabs to users in the Delhi-NCR region. The electric cabs are presently available for pre-scheduled trips only.
Uber’s spokesperson told Techcrunch, “As the leading mobility app in India, we are committed to supporting the Indian government’s emission goals. Expect to see more electric vehicles — be they two, three or four-wheeled — across Indian cities in the coming months.”
The company has not yet shared the number of electric cars available right now on the platform. But the company is planning to gradually increase the number.
Users can book electric cars via the Reserve feature available in the app. The feature allows users to choose a pick-up time for the ride up to 30 days in advance. Users are also allowed to cancel their scheduled trip 60 minutes before their trip. If users cancel the trip in the mentioned time then they will not be charged with any cancellation fees.
Uber recently launched its advertising division to engage consumers with brands, by showing video advertisements during the ride. The company introduced ‘Uber Journey Ads’, an entertaining method for businesses to engage customers. The company has already teamed up with over 40 prominent businesses to run Journey Ads.
