UK woman orders iPhone 13 Pro Max worth around Rs 1.5 lakh, gets bottle of hand soap instead | 91mobiles.com
Soap instead of iPhone 13 Pro Max
Khaoula Lafhaily purchased an iPhone 13 Pro Max from local UK carrier SkyMobile via a 36-month contract. While she didn’t have to pay for the phone upfront, the phone does cost GBP 1500 (approx Rs 1.5 lakh). Upon delivery, which was delayed, she found that the box contained a refill bottle for hand soap. She was in complete shock and stated that she really needed the phone. A complaint was lodged and SkyMobile said that they’re looking into the matter. However, it has been over a week and the carrier hasn’t given any update yet.
The customer opted for next-day delivery, but the delivery took place two days later. The delivery personnel contacted the buyer and stated that the delivery wouldn’t be possible on the next day as he was stuck in traffic. The delivery driver came to their residence, took a picture of the door, and left stating that no one was home. However, Lafhaily was home at the time, and the driver didn’t even knock at the door. Two days later, different delivery personnel dropped off the package in the morning. When she opened the package later that day, she was shocked to find a USD 1 bottle of hand wash soap inside.
This appears to be a delivery-related fraud, where the delivery guy must’ve stolen the iPhone and sold it for a profit.
