Ukraine’s vice PM wants Apple to stop selling products in Russia
Ukraine’s vice prime minister took to Twitter and posted an open letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook. The country has been under attack as Russia launched a full-scale invasion on February 24. In his tweet, Mykhailo Fedorov, vice prime minister of Ukraine, said that he has contacted Cook and asked to block sale of all its products and services to Russia. “I’ve contacted @tim_cook, Apple’s CEO, to block the Apple Store for citizens of the Russian Federation, and to support the package of US government sanctions! If you agree to have the president-killer, then you will have to be satisfied with the only available site Russia 24,” said Fedorov in his tweet.

Fedorov is also the minister of digital transformation for Ukraine appealed to Cook to even stop the access of App Store to Russia. “We are sure that such actions will motivate youth and active population of Russia to proactively stop the disgraceful military aggression,” Fedorov said in his letter.
Apple hasn’t commented on the letter by the Ukrainian prime minister.
The US has imposed sanctions on Russia under which US companies, including Apple and other tech giants, cannot provide any services to the Russian armed forces or the ministry of defence.
Meanwhile, Cook did take to Twitter and said that the company will support local humanitarian efforts. “I am deeply concerned with the situation in Ukraine. We’re doing all we can for our teams there and will be supporting local humanitarian efforts. I am thinking of the people who are right now in harm’s way and joining all those calling for peace,” Cook said in his tweet.
