Using 5G on iPhone: Step-by-step guide, things to keep in mind and more

iPhone users in India have been waiting for Apple to roll out a software update, which will enable 5G on their devices. The 5G support will arrive with iOS 16.2 update and today, the company has rolled out the public beta version of iOS 16.2 with 5G support. If you want to take your iPhone for a spin over the 5G network, you can install the latest beta on your device to use it.
Things to keep in mind about using 5G on iPhone
There are a few things that you need to keep in mind before jumping into the beta software wagon. First of all, iOS 16.2 is currently in beta, so you may come across some glitches and bugs.
Then, make sure that 5G services are available in your region. What we mean is you need to be sure that 5G services are available. You can check with some other users who happen to own a 5G device and get 5G services. Doing this is important because you are going to install beta software just to get 5G services. If 5G isn’t available in your area, we advise you to wait until Apple rolls out the stable iOS 16.2 update.
Apart from that, you also need an Airtel or Reliance Jio SIM with an active plan to use 5G services. Just keep in mind that Reliance Jio 5G is currently available as an invite-only.
iPhones that support 5G
Apple introduced 5G with iPhone 12. So all the preceding iPhone models support 5G. This includes iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone SE 3, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Mac.
Also, note that this software update won’t transform your non-5G iPhones (iPhone 11 series or older) into 5G devices. However, the software update will bring several other improvements, except for 5G.
