Valve rolls out new Steam mobile app for Android, iPhone users – Times of India

Valve has been beta-testing a redesigned version of the Steam mobile app since August. Now, the company has released the latest version of the app for both Android and iPhone users. Valve has also shared a video on its official YouTube page to announce the release of the new Steam app. Earlier, during its beta phase, Valve announced that the new app has been rebuilt with a modern design and comes with an improved framework. The company also mentioned that the latest version of the Steam app also includes new features including the ability to sign in with QR codes.

Introducing the updated Steam Mobile app

New Steam mobile app: QR code sign-in method
The new Steam app will save users from typing in their usernames and password every time they want to access their Steam accounts through their mobile devices. To verify the user, this new log-in system uses the two-factor authentication credentials that are already stored in the devices.

Once a user scans the QR code with their phone, the sign-in method will show a confirmation page where users will have to approve their login attempt. The approval page will also offer other details like a map with the nearby location of the device that is being used to sign into the Steam account.
Users will have to approve their login attempts even if they try to access their accounts with a username and password. Moreover, gamers can also manage the devices linked to the account through the Authorized Devices page.
New Steam mobile app: Other features
Apart from the new login system, the new app will also allow users to find all the games that are available in the Library. Moreover, users can even download and uninstall their PC games remotely from their mobile app. The new app also promises an improved store browsing experience and notification customisations.

Valve is also planning to introduce the QR sign-in system to the Steam Deck and may also add the Authorized Devices page to Steam’s PC client and browser.
