vivo: Vivo set to unveil Vivo Watch 2 with eSIM support – Times of India

Vivo unveiled its first smartwatch back in 2020. According to recent reports by Gizchina, the Vivo Watch is about to receive a new sequel – Vivo Watch 2. It will keep the round watch design but it will come with a new feature that was not present in the original wearable — the eSIM support.
Last month was busy for Vivo, with smartphone launches across the globe – the X70 series in China, the iQOO Z5 in India and then the global X70 Pro and Pro+ rollout. The company is now shifting its attention to a new wearable. This time the wearable might also be launched outside China.
Why is eSIM support better?
The eSIM capability is an interesting feature for smartwatches. They expand the possibilities of the wearable a lot. Some users want the smartwatch to expand or extend the experience of the smartphone. With eSIM you can easily leave the smartphone behind and receive calls, send texts, and more.
Vivo is perhaps aware of the demand for products with this feature and is getting ready to unleash a smartwatch with it.
The eSIM support will allow users to make and receive calls without a smartphone. In the same way, they will be able to send and receive messages straight from the smartwatch without being tethered to a smartphone.
Other new features
In addition to the eSIM feature, Vivo Watch 2 is expected to have better app implementation in a single ecosystem, meaning users will be able to install complementing apps from their Vivo smartphones. Vivo may be looking to offer an experience similar to the recently released Xiaomi Watch Color 2.
The new Vivo Watch 2 will likely come with a round dial. The wearable may also come in various sizes just like last year’s model. Specs-wise we are likely to see an AMOLED display, NFC and long battery life.
The first Vivo Watch did arrive in September 2020, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see the new one arrive any time soon.
