Vodafone beats BT with fibre broadband at a price that’s really hard to believe

Want to slash your monthly broadband bills? Vodafone might’ve what you’re looking for, thanks to the unexpected launch of a new set to deals that make rivals such as BT look massively expensive. Although the January sales are now in the rearview mirror, Vodafone has transitioned into a brand-new set of discounts – and there are some brilliant bargains to be had on fibre broadband.

Although most of us still think of Vodafone as just a mobile network, the company has been offering broadband for a little while now. And starting from today, things are ludicrously cheap.

Customers who sign-up for Vodafone’s entry-level Fibre 1 service (38Mbps speeds) can get internet access for just £18 per month – that’s almost £10 cheaper than similar speeds from BT and one of the lowest prices we’ve ever seen. 38Mbps isn’t the fastest on the market (it’s a little over half the average home broadband speed in the UK) but for those who only watch a little Netflix and answer emails, this is a phenomenal way to cut down your monthly bills.

For those who need some more speed, there are huge big cuts on Vodafone’s faster 75Mbps broadband (now just £19) and you can even get 100Mbps for £22 a month. As an example of how cheap this is BT’s Fibre 2 service (73Mbps) service is currently £32.99 per month.

Want something even faster? Vodafone should have you covered with the firm also offering full-fibre at much lower prices. As part of the big sale event, which lasts until March, there are 200Mbps and 500Mbps speeds which start from £32 per month.

WHAT SPEEDS DO YOU REALLY NEED?

Not sure what Vodafone speeds are best for you? Here’s a quick guide to what your home needs. We’re all using our broadband more and more but not everyone needs blisteringly quick speeds. If you simply browse the web, send a few emails and watch the odd box set on Netflix then a standard 36Mbps connection should cope just fine.

However, if you have a busy home then you will definitely want something faster and it’s not just about quicker downloads.

Your broadband is a bit like a motorway – the more traffic that runs through it the slower it gets. So, if you have a busy house it’s best to get the fastest speeds you can afford to avoid annoying buffering.

Here’s how long it takes to download a full HD movie with different speeds on offer from the UK’s ISPs.

SPEED 36Mbps – DOWNLOAD TIME = 16 minutes

SPEED 76Mbps – DOWNLOAD TIME = 7 minutes

SPEED 100Mbps – DOWNLOAD TIME = 4 minutes

SPEED 200Mbps – DOWNLOAD TIME = 3 minutes

SPEED 500Mbps – DOWNLOAD TIME = 2 minutes
