Want to use the same Whatsapp Account on two smartphones? Here’s how | Digit
Whatsapp is always in the news for adding new features to its application to enhance user experience. The app is currently working on its companion mode, which will let you link up to four different devices, with Beta testers now gaining access to the tablet version of the app.
Amongst other things, here’s something exciting to know about Whatsapp. You can actually link the same account on two smartphones, by using a neat little trick.
How to link the same Whatsapp account on two smartphones?
According to Android Authority, there’s a neat little trick that you can rely on to do this. What you need to do is simply trick Whatsapp into thinking that one of the smartphones you’re trying to link it to is a tablet. Once you do that, you need to let Whatsapp link this with the account on your smartphone, and voila! You’ll have the same account running on two smartphones.
Here’s what you need to do:
Go to APKmirror to download the beta version of Whatsapp v2.22.25.8. You need to run this version on your primary smartphone. When you open Whatsapp, you’ll see an alert prompting you that you can connect your Whatsapp account to a tablet.
Head to developer settings, and head to the ‘smallest width’ setting. Change this setting to 600 and press the save button. Youll notice that all the display elements such as the text and icons will become smaller in order to accommodate the requirements of a tablet. While this may look weird, it’s okay. It’s only temporary.
Then, you need to set up your secondary device. Install the same APK onto the device. The setup process will initiate and once you enter your language settings, you’ll see a QR code similar to the kind that is displayed when using Whatsapp web.
Display this code on your primary phone and use the secondary smartphone to scan it. You can then head back to developer settings and change the width back to what it was to restore the visual settings.
Arguably, you can do this again to link it to a third device.
