watchos 8: Apple rolls out watchOS 8: Here are the new features

Apple today launched the watchOS 8 for the Apple Watch. The new OS update brings new types of workouts, new watch faces, the Mindfulness app and more features. Here’s a look at them in some detail.
Apple has added two new workouts this time, focussing on mindful physical movement: Tai Chi and Pilates. The company says it has added validated custom-built heart rate and motion algorithms for the workouts which should be able to produce accurate calorie metrics for the users.
The watchOS 8 update brings new bike-riding and cycling-related features which would make the Apple Watch start analysing the GPS, heart rate, accelerometer, and gyroscope data the moment you start riding. With cycling, now users have the auto-pause and resume options for the inclusion of the correct data. The fall detection algorithms have also been updated and optimised.
The Breathe app becomes the Mindfulness app
Yes, and it comes with an “enhanced Breathe experience”, as per Apple; a new session type called Reflect; and guided Meditations for Fitness+ subscribers. The session duration can be set for as small as 1 minute. For the Fitness+ subscribers, new guided Meditations will be uploaded each week in audio form in the new Mindfulness app on Apple Watch starting September 27. These can also be viewed as video on iPhone and iPad.
Other features
Some of the additional watchOS features include a redesigned Photos app, addition of the Contacts app on Apple Watch, support for Always-On display to more Apple Watch apps like Maps, Mindfulness, Now Playing, Phone, Podcasts, Stopwatch, Timers, etc. and more.
