Facebook Locked Profile is a privacy safety feature that allows users to secure their personal information from others. Once a user locks his/her profile on Facebook, details like photos, posts, stories can only be seen with their friends only. In addition, any posts they have shared in the past, will automatically be changed to Friends-only. Only a portion of their About info will be visible to a non-friend user, who checks their profile. Meta-owned Facebook has launched a feature for users in Ukraine to lock their social media profiles for security.
The feature was introduced last year in India, especially for women, who want more control over their Facebook account. In case you want to lock your Facebook profile, there are two ways to do it. You can either do it via Facebook mobile app or via desktop. Here’s a step-by-step guide to lock a Facebook profile.
Via mobile app
Open Facebook app and tap on your profile
Tap the three dot menu icon. You will see a Lock Profile option, tap on it.
It will open a page that briefs you about the feature and how it works. Tap on the Lock Your Profile option at the bottom of the page
This will show a screen pop-up that says ‘You Locked Your Profile’, tap on OK
Via desktop
Readers must note that the below mentioned method is a workaround. There is no direct method to lock a Facebook profile via desktop.
Go to https://www.facebook.com/
Replace ‘www’ in the URL with ‘m’ which will open a mobile version of Facebook in your browser
Click on the three-dot menu that you see next to the Edit Profile option
Click on Lock Profile option
This will open a page that shows you how the feature works. Click on Lock Your Profile at the bottom.
