What Samsung has to say about user data leaked in July – Times of India

Samsung has revealed that the data of some of its users have been compromised. The South Korean tech giant is warning its customers about a cybersecurity incident which happened in July. The company confirmed that during the data breach a third party acquired information from some of Samsung’s US systems. The compromised information include names, birthdays, contact information and product registration number. Samsung further added that it discovered the breach of August 4 and is presently conducting an investigation.
Samsung also mentions that the compromised data does not include Social Security numbers or credit and debit card numbers. “The information affected for each relevant customer may vary. We are notifying customers to make them aware of this matter”, said the company.

“At Samsung, we value the trust our customers place in our products and services – trust that we have built up over many years. By working with industry-leading experts, we will further enhance the security of our systems – and our customers’ personal information – and work to maintain the trust our customers have put into the Samsung brand for more than 40 years,” added Samsung.
The company has also created an FAQ section to further educate the customers about the incident. Samsung is also sending mails to the customers who were specifically affected in the data breach.
The data breach has affected the Samsung users in the US and has asked the customers to avoid clicking any suspicious link or and emails.
