What will WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.1.26 bring? | Digit

WhatsApp is all set to roll out a new update via its Google Play Beta Program, which will bring the app version to 2.23.1.26. Before it rolls out the update though, Whatsapp is also working on 2.23.1.25, which will be rolled out first. One of the major aspects of this update is that it will let you transfer chat histories from one Android smartphone to another, negating the need to backup the chat history on Google Drive before doing so.

What is in the WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.23.1.26 update?

While the chat transfer feature is still being developed, Whatsapp is also developing its WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.1.26 update that will build on the feature, according to WaBetaInfo. Screenshots published on WaBetaInfo show that users can start by downloading the app on the new Android device. On opening the app, a QR code will be displayed. This needs to be scanned in order to initiate the process of migrating their chat history to the new smartphone.

This will make it quite easy for users to just transfer the history without wasting precious time backing up and then downloading important chat files. At this moment, this feature will only be available for Android smartphones (which means that you can only transfer the files from one Android phone to another).
