WhatsApp beta for Windows 11 gets new context menu, emoji reactions and more
WhatsApp has started testing some new features for the UWP version of the Windows 11 app in beta. The WhatsApp beta app has received two new features – emoji reactions and an all-new context menu.
For those who don’t know, WhatsApp beta is a UWP client that is based on Windows 11’s design and aesthetics. The app also behaves like a full-fledged app, unlike the older app which was more like an extension of WhatsApp Web. The UWP app also offers better integration and features compared to the legacy version.
Coming back to the update, the instant messaging platform has started rolling out the emoji reactions, faster file transfer, and a new drawing feature alongside other improvements.
WhatsApp beta users can now react to a received or sent message with emoji reactions. The feature is already available on Android, iOS and the regular versions of the WhatsApp desktop client. Although, currently, there are a limited number of emojis available in the reaction context menu.
The UWP version has also received a new context menu which brings text formatting options to the chat. Users can now make the texts Bold, Italics, Strikethrough and more using the new context menu. Apart from that, there’s also an option to convert texts into preformatted.
Apart from this, WhatsApp beta has recently received a couple of other features which include support for one-time view for photos and videos, improved dark mode and more.
