WhatsApp Documents could become more accessible with this upcoming update: Know what it is | Digit

WhatsApp could allow users to caption the documents they send. Here’s how it’ll be helpful.

In the future, WhatsApp documents could be captioned before they are sent to other users. This report comes from WABetaInfo who also shares a screengrab of the document captioning in action. While it may seem a trivial feature, this could prove helpful in some respects. We will get to what those could be in this article.

WhatsApp Documents captioning: How it works

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp could give users the ability to add captions when sharing a document. While at present captioning is only available for images, videos, and GIFs, soon WhatsApp Documents could also gain this option.

This was apparently spotted on WhatsApp for Desktop Beta a while back but now it has appeared on WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.22.21.2.

As for how it will be useful, WABetaInfo rightly highlights how you could easily search for a document if you recall the caption. Just simply search the caption word or phrase in the search text field and voila you could get hold of the document you want.

It also lets the receiver have a better idea of what they are receiving.

Now, what’s left to be known is when the feature would be out to the public. It is said to be under development, and when we get to know more about it, we will post you.

In related news, WhatsApp is also getting a feature to edit already sent messages. That too is in the works at the moment.
