WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new interface for voice calls. According to a report by WABetaInfo, after introducing the possibility to join a call after its starts, the Facebook owned platform is planning to redesign the interface that users see during a call. WABetaInfo has also shared the screenshots of the new interface as seen on an Apple iPhone. The report emphasizes that even though the screenshots were taken through WhatsApp on iOS, the new design will also be incorporated into the WhatsApp app for Android devices.
As per the image shared in the report, with the new design, the voice call interface on the platform will look compact and more organised. The new design will reportedly look more neat during a group voice call. Although the redesigned interface will not add any new features, it will give a modernised theme to the app. As of now, the company has not revealed any plans mentioned in the report, but it is expected that we may soon see the redesign in the upcoming beta updates.
The company is also reportedly working to redesign the in-app camera on Android smartphones. As per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s in-app camera will get a new interface along with redesigned Flash and Switch Camera buttons. The report also suggests that with the new design users will be able to open the recent media by tapping the lower left corner.
According to the image shared in the report, with the new design, the in-app camera on the platform will look quite similar to the one seen on Apple iPhones. The Flash button will be moved to the top right corner, the image suggests. The image also hints that the company may ditch the feature that allows users to swipe up to access the gallery. Currently, on Android smartphones, the Flash button is placed at the bottom left corner of the screen and the Switch Camera button is placed at the bottom right of the screen.
