WhatsApp may add this new media feature that will help solve one of your biggest media sharing ‘trouble’
Meta-owned WhatsApp may soon add a feature that may help solve one of the biggest troubles that users face while sharing media – the ability to edit the recipients before sharing a file. Presently, when you are sending a media (photo, video, document or other similar file), you can send it only to a person you are in chat with, but moving forward WhatsApp will allow you to send it to more contacts without leaving the chat. You will be able to do this both in individual chat as well as Group chat. This means that if you are sending media to users of one group, you can edit the recipients list to include some people from other groups as well. This means that WhatsApp users will not need to create a separate group to share media with contacts across groups or with more than one contact who are not there in one group. The users will be able to select more people and groups as recipients, even if they are in a different chat.
However, the feature spotted by WaBetaInfo, is currently under development and may take time to roll out. The feature has been seen in WhatsApp beta for Android update 2.21.25.19. WaBetaInfo has also shared a screenshot that shows a media editor menu when sharing media on WhatsApp. As mentioned above the feature is under development and will be made available to beta testers first before rolling out to the general users.
The instant messaging platform is working on a host of new features to improve the users experience on WhatsApp. One such feature is Community on WhatsApp. According to a report, the platform has reportedly started to roll out a new beta update for Android smartphones bringing the version up to 2.21.25.17. It comes with hidden references about a feature that will allow users to create Communities in future updates.
For those who don’t know, the Facebook owned messaging platform has been working on a Community feature for a while now. As per a previous report, the feature may be linked to the Groups and may provide more control to the Group administrators. The feature is expected to provide the option to create Groups within Groups. It will be quite similar to how multiple channels are arranged under an umbrella Discord community. These sub-groups will offer end-to-end encryptions as well.
