WhatsApp may soon allow users to ‘bulk-enable’ disappearing message option for chats – Times of India
WhatsApp recently started testing the extended time limit for its ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature and now it appears that the company is planning to offer the ability to select multiple chats and enable disappearing messages for them.
For those unaware, WhatsApp currently let users enable the disappearing messages option for chats individually. This means to enable disappearing messages for multiple chats, users need to open them one by one and enable them.
WABetaInfo has reported that the company has started testing the ability to select chats and enable disappearing messages for them at once. The feature, as per the report, is currently rolling out via a new WhatsApp Beta update version 2.22.16.8 through the Google Play Beta Program.
What does this mean for users?
For starters, the feature will make enabling or disabling disappearing message options for multiple chats easier and faster. Also, it will save some time as well.
How the feature works
According to the screenshots posted by WABetaInfo, the new feature will be integrated within the Disappearing Messages option. Users will be able to find it as an additional link within the section saying “Apply this message time to existing chats by selecting them.
We are assuming that tapping on that link will open the list of all the active chats or groups and users can simply tap on them to enable the message timer. One thing to note here is that users won’t have the option to set a different timer for different chats in this case.
