WhatsApp may soon start warning businesses for violating its commerce policy – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Facebook-owned WhatsApp recently introduced WhatsApp Cloud API for businesses worldwide. It is a cloud-based version of the company’s developer tool WhatsApp Business API. The tool aims to make it easier for businesses of all sizes anywhere in the world to get started on WhatsApp. After this recent change, the social networking giant is now reportedly working on a new feature which will warn businesses that risk breaking the firm’s commerce policy.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, instant messenger is developing a feature that will warn businesses when they will violate the company’s commerce policy. As per the report, a warning will appear above the chat list and will tell the businesses about the policies of the company. The policies will only appear on WhatsApp Business accounts.
The report suggests that the company is creating a ‘banner flag’ which will appear on the WhatsApp business accounts that have not complied with the company’s commerce policy. The feature was discovered recently after the company allowed all businesses and developers to use its cloud-based API.
“WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new banner at the top of the chats list when their automatic systems detect suspicious activity in the business account. WhatsApp will explain what’s wrong with the account in detail, so businesses can immediately fix the issue by properly following the policy,” reads the report. The report also suggests that with this warning the company aims to offer a chance to the business accounts before banning them.
WABetaInfo also mentions that the feature is in the developmental stage and will be released later.
