Facebook-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has rolled out the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update. As part of the new update, WhatsApp has introduced a major change for WhatsApp Business accounts. It no longer shows the online status and last seen for business accounts from WhatsApp for Android. The feature is part of WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.21.13.17.
This means that if you are chatting with a business account from WhatsApp beta for Android, you will just see “Business account” instead of “online” or “last seen today at…”. This will also enable Business accounts on WhatsApp to become invisible on the messaging app.
However, it is still possible to see the online status and last seen from WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for iOS.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp for Android will reportedly get two new features soon. With the new update, users will be able to forward sticker packs to their contacts. However, only the sticker packs that have been downloaded from WhatsApp will be allowed to be forwarded.
Another change expected to come to WhatsApp Android users is the redesigned voice note. Instead of the straight line you get to see beside the play/pause button you will now see a waveform when the voice note is played, as per a report by WABetaInfo. If you are already a WhatsApp beta user then you can download the new version to get these two features.
These features are currently available to beta users and are expected to be rolled out to all Android phone users in the coming days.
