WhatsApp reportedly redesigning in-app camera for Android smartphones – Times of India

WhatsApp is reportedly working to redesign the in-app camera on Android smartphones. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook owned platform has started to roll out the 2.22.1.2 beta update for Android devices. The report further mentions that WhatsApp’s in-app camera will get a new interface along with redesigned Flash and Switch Camera buttons. The report also suggests that with the new design users will be able to open the recent media by tapping the lower left corner.
As per the image shared in the report, with the new design, the in-app camera on the platform will look quite similar to the one seen on Apple iPhones. The Flash button will be moved to the top right corner, the image suggests. The image also hints that the company may ditch the feature that allows users to swipe up to access the gallery. Currently, on Android smartphones, the Flash button is placed at the bottom left corner of the screen and the Switch Camera button is placed at the bottom right of the screen.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp rolled out beta UWP 2.2148.3.7 or the Windows app. With the update, the company has added new emojis on the platform. These emojis were already available on Android and iOS devices. The Facebook owned platform now also allows users to create skin-tone combinations for couples emojis on the Universal Windows Platform app too. Recently, the feature was also rolled out for Android users with the beta update. Previously, the feature was only available for Apple iPhone users.
Users can also change the skin tone combination for couple emojis multiple times. WhatsApp rolled out the new Windows app a few weeks ago. The app looks similar to the web version of the platform and it is available to download on the Microsoft Store
