WhatsApp reportedly working on chat filter for desktop client – Times of India
WhatsApp is known for keeping testing several new features before its official rollout. Among the new edit text messages features, updated emoji reactions and new group poll results viewer, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform has started testing a new chat filter for the desktop version. The feature is currently available to select beta users and is expected to soon arrive for more users.
WhatsApp chat filter for web: Details
WABetaInfo has reported that the company is now testing a new chat filter for the WhatsApp desktop client. The feature is currently part of version 2.2221.1 of the desktop client.
According to the report, this filter is designed to help people find and read unread chats on the platform. The filter is placed just beside the search bar on the WhatsApp beta for Desktop. The feature works like any other filter where it allows users to simply hide all the read chats and bring the unread ones at the top.
The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo also shows that the filter can be removed with just a click.
It is unclear when WhatsApp will roll out the chat filter for WhatsApp Desktop and whether the company will roll out something similar for the mobile apps as well. However, it will be an important and practical addition to the instant messaging platform.
Meanwhile, the instant messaging platform is also testing another feature which allows group members to view detailed poll results in the group. The feature is said to be rolled out with future updates.
Reports suggest that the company is working on this feature alongside the ability to create polls in group chats.
